Iris and Walter’s teacher, Miss Cherry is out sick, and Iris’s own grandpa is the substitute! Iris has a wonderful day being Grandpa’s special helper. But on the second day, having Grandpa as the teacher isn’t so much fun. Iris finds it hard sharing Grandpa with everyone else in the class. It’s a good thing that Grandpa always knows just how to make his Iris feel special.

Davenier’s relaxed pen- and- ink watercolor artwork is wonderfully expressive, with Iris scowling on one page and then, at the end, laughing with the beloved grandfather she knows is still hers.
